Our History

  • In April of 1998 the Elders of Waxahachie Bible Church approved Pastor Bruce Zimmerman’s proposal to start a new church in North Ellis County.
  • Shortly thereafter Dr. Fred C. Campbell, former pastor of Faith Bible Church, DeSoto, Texas for 23 years, accepted the pastoral leadership position.
  • Three initial meetings were held to discuss the vision, goals, values, and name of the church. Then the name, “Grace Church of Ovilla”, was approved.
  • On September 13, 1998, Grace held its first service at Shields Elementary School of Red Oak.
  • In June of 1999 the congregation approved the purchase of 10 acres at the present location on Westmoreland Road in Ovilla.
  • An architect was hired and plans were made to build the new home of Grace Church of Ovilla.
  • Construction of the church began in August of 2001.
  • On June 2, 2002 the congregation held its first service in the new building.
  • On October 19, 2014, Dr. Fred C. Campbell announced his retirement as Senior Pastor of Grace Church to be effective April 26, 2015.  After 18 years of dedicated service to Grace Church of Ovilla, the Elders bestowed on him the title of Pastor Emeritus.
  • After a year-long search, Justin Jackson was installed as Senior Pastor of Grace Church of Ovilla on October 25, 2015.
